Today we have been looking at size. First we looked at the size of some of the children in class and discussed who was the tallest and who was the shortest the children worked together as a class to tell each other where they would need to move to to be in order. Some of the children then went off to the craft table and ordered pictures from the smallest to the biggest.
In Reception, we have been learning about different shapes. Today some of the children used the shapes to create their own shape patterns. When i asked the children what shapes they had used in their patterns some of them were able to tell me that they had used a hexagon and how many sides and corners it had!
Maths – SSM – 30-50/40-60-
This pupil brought two protractors over and said “Miss its broke.” He had recognised that when they are put together they form a different shape. We talked about what shape it would make and we looked at some familiar shapes and names of shapes. In the end he decided that when the two halves are put together they make a circle.
