Today we have been looking at size. First we looked at the size of some of the children in class and discussed who was the tallest and who was the shortest the children worked together as a class to tell each other where they would need to move to to be in order. Some of the children then went off to the craft table and ordered pictures from the smallest to the biggest.
Reception have had a great time taking part in World Nursery Rhyme Week. The children have learned different songs throughout the week, created pictures with paint, telescopes and even made a boat! Today the children dressed up as their favourite nursery rhyme character. Can you guess which nursery rhyme they are from?
Reception had a great day today dressing up in spots and raising money for children in need. The children used their cutting skills to make Pudsey Bear masks and all enjoyed a cake and a story at the end of the day.
Today some of the children in reception designed a map to help Little Red Riding Hood find her Grandmas house. We worked together to think of things she might come across on her journey and then drew them on our map. We then talked about how she would get there.
#RS said “She needs to go over the bridge.”
#RE said “She can’t swim in the water so she will have to go around it.”
Reception got to see a real fire engine today and have a talk with the firemen about how they help people. The children had a look inside the firetruck and learned how it is never safe to play with matches or fires.
Reception have had lots of fun today learning how to make bread. The children learned how the dough has to rest and get bigger before they can knead and shape it. The children first washed their hands before starting and then used the palms of their hands to stretch, roll and manipulate the dough. Some of the children were surprised how sticky the dough was! The children then made bread rolls, plaited the bread and created a small loaf which was to be cooked and served to the children in school this week.
Today in Reception, the children went outside to investigate and find signs of Autumn. The children first talked about the different colours they could see and then went and collected some of the leaves on the ground. We discussed how the leaves are different now that they have fallen.
